The days of creation are not merely a historical account—they are a prophetic table of contents, revealing Christ at every stage of redemptive history.

God wants everyone to know him. He gave Adam a language so that they could talk then told him how he created everything. It looks like God may have given Adam two tablets with the story of creation on them. He wrote the story in his kind of poetry.

God's uses ideas, rather than words, to make his poetry. No matter what language you read it in, you can see the poetry.

Look at our simple poetry:

Jesus loves me this I know,: <-'Know' rhymes with 'so'. Call this sound 'A' For the Bible tells me so. <- This is also 'A' Little ones to him belong, <- This is a different sound. Call it 'B'. They are weak but he is strong. <- This sounds like 'B' So it is 'B' also.

The poem is a pattern of sound or rhymes: AABB. Lets see God's poetry.

The first idea is 'the heavens and the earth' A: Ge 1:1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The idea looks like it may be here, but 'to give light...' separates 'heaven' and earth', so this gets a label 'a' because it is similar but different: a. Ge 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. It is also here: a. Ge 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

It is also here: a. Ge 2:4 ¶ ... when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

The perfect repetition of the idea is here: A. Ge 2:4 ¶ These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created,

Now fill in the gaps of ideas for the poem: B. Light: Ge 1:3 ¶ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. B. From light: Ge 1:14 ¶ And God said, Let there be lights [from light] in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

C. Waters: Ge 1:9 ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry [land] appear: and it was so. C. From water: Ge 1:20 ¶ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl [that] may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

D. Dry ground: Ge 1:9 ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry [land] appear: and it was so. D. From dry ground: Ge 1:24 ¶ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

Now the poem looks like: ABCDaaBCDAa When you start to see God's poetry, you begin to know his heart. The aa separates the two tablets. God repeats himself so that you know the order to read the tablets.

God makes sure we understand that the final Aa closes his poem which began with A and not a since the A is before the plants and herbs here: Ge 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Did you notice that all seven days of creation happened in one day?

Ge 2:4 ¶ These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.

Everything in his poem from the first A to the last A happened in a day! Now there's a riddle for you.

The next tablet begins in Ge 2:6 Ge 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

It repeats the idea that there was no rain in v.5: Ge 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.

Genesis 38 [∞]

Judah and Tamar [∞]

▸ ± Genesis 38 has been called the worst chapter of the Bible, but it contains a beautiful picture of the birth of Christ.

Mary was told the power of the Highest would overshadow her. ▸ ± Lk 1:35

Mary was told that he would be called the Son of God. ▸ ± Lk 1:35

Tamar was given bracelets. ▸ ± Genesis 38:18 Bracelets cover an empty vessel to keep it clean.

Mary was told that she was not unclean because although she was with child, it was by the Holy Ghost. ▸ ± Lk 1:35

They both were threatened.

They both were honored when the real father was discovered.

Mary bore the dual-natured God-Man. ▸ ± Joh 8:58

Jesus bore our sins in his flesh.

Skeptics claim that two creation accounts differ. This is a Balaamism. They compare Ge 1:1-2:3 with Ge 2:4-25. Unfortunately, they have not divided the scriptures properly. The first account ends with 2:5 and the second begins with 2:6.

The parable ^[1] progresses from the seed, which represents Jesus in the event of his birth ^[2], to the herb, which also represents Jesus in the event of his life ^[3] and then to the tree , which we can safely say also represents Jesus, and the event of the cross.	↑ Parallel parable - mustard seed ↑ Mustard seed ↑ great herb
The Hebrew word for 'tree' is ets עץ also means 'the flesh ע of the judge (the righteous man) died ץ.
Jesus has pointed backwards now to Ge 1:11, 12 ^[1]^[2] He references the seed, the herb and the tree and is giving a commentary on it. It would be fulfilled by him. Please notice that this is a reference to the cross on day 3 of creation, and man was not created until day 6. It displays God's love that he had a plan to reveal himself to us through Christ and the cross before he made man.	↑ ▸ ± Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. If we use Greek methods of interpretation, we must read Ge 1:11,12 literally. They determine that God literally made grass and herbs with seed and trees with fruit which had seed. However, the purpose of scripture is not to give us a history, though it does. It's purpose is to reveal the invisible Father through the Son ^[1]. If we miss the son in it, we have missed the point. ^[2]	↑ ▸ ± Mt 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him]. ↑ ▸ ± Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Genesis 1 - Tablets of ten commandments [∞]

Tablets of ten commandments

God probably wrote the first account of creation on tablets like he wrote the law on tablets for Moses. [1] As you read Genesis 1, count how many times “God said”. There were ten commandments for creation, and ten commandments given to Moses, for men.

There is a difference between the two sets of commandments. When he commanded the light to be, it was. When he commanded the waters to part, they parted. But when he commanded men not to worship other gods, men did not obey him. Everything in the universe obeys God except man.

The structure of the story shows us what was on each tablet. You are familiar with written structure. In a book, you expect a title page, an introduction, and then chapter breaks. When you write on tablets, you use a different structure.

The introduction to the creation story is at the top of the first tablet. 1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The words “heaven to give light upon the earth” are used at the bottom of the first tablet, and the top of the second so that you know what order to place the tablets when you read.

The ideas on the first tablet tell about God. They are repeated in order on the second tablet to tell how God made us to be like him.

The end of the story is told in two verses: 4 ¶ These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.

There is another structural hint. The last time he mentions ‘heaven and earth’ we are told to look for the other ‘heaven and earth’ “before the herbs, rain and man”. Herbs did not appear until the Third Day. It indicates that it is the close of the story that started on the first day, so that you don’t look for another tablet to continue reading.
