▸ ± Mt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
If it is popular; there is something wrong with it. If the crowd is going there; go the other way.
When you think of a cult, you think of a person dressed funny who is passing out flowers at the airport. But that person who passes out the flowers, rides bikes two by two, knocks on your door Saturday morning, or sits in a pew each Sunday morning, has no idea that he is in a cult. Everyone he associates with and respects is going the same way, doing the same things, and dressing the same way.
People justify being odd by being the few in the larger crowd while they follow the smaller crowd to destruction.
▸ ± Mt 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
They focus on the word 'few', which is the wrong focus. There are many small groups but simply being small does not make them true. Attention should be paid to 'find'. The narrow way is not a way where you follow. It is a way that you find.
There is one thing that is nearly universal. It is taught and believed by the most foul pagan, Catholics and the 'holiest' among Wesleyans. It is taught in Christian denominational seminaries around the world. It is the proposition that there is no proof for God. Wide is THAT gate.
This theory, promulgated by Loyla Jesuits after they could not longer control access to the scriptures due to the Gutenberg press, has been so thoroughly insinuated in every form of education and entertainment, that it is accepted without proof. The most ardent atheist proclaims it loudly while Christian apologists apologetically confess it to be true, as they settle for lessor evidences.
The person who declares that there is no proof for God is the same kind of liar as the atheist. They parrot what they have heard, because the crowd chants it, not because they have proven the proposition to be true themselves. In fact, it cannot be proven at all! In order to say there is no proof, one would have to try every proof imaginable, and the ones that have not imagined yet.
God tells us to scientifically prove him.
▸ ± Ps 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.
The word 'taste' also means 'perceive'. 'Seeing' is a metaphor for 'understanding'. God says to perceive or observe and understand. Observing is the first step in the scientific method.
