Religious embarrassment []

God has a way of closing doors.

When the temple was destroyed in 70 AD, the Jewish claim to be the way to God was destroyed forever. There could never be another legitimate sacrifice because of the cross. The descendants of those who rejected Christ were cursed by their ancestors and today cannot call on the name of God; יהוה but have a god named "TheName" Hashem.

The Catholic church made the claim of doctrinal unity, yet the Great Schism shattered that over a small question of whether the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father or the Father AND the Son. East and west were divided.

The Reformers made the claim that all were priests and could interpret the Bible for themselves. That legitimacy was revoked when the best and brightest theologians and scholars confessed they could not read the Bible the way Jesus did. Except for those who say their interpretation is the only truth, most have grown weary of the useless debates and proclaim that doctrine isn't really all that important anyway.

The next, and final wave is where men, led by the Spirit read, practice and teach scripture the way Jesus did; seeing himself in it all.
