The Language of God

How God Used Letters to Tell His Story

🧱 Who Was the First Man?

God made the first man, Adam, from the ground.

And then, something amazing happened…

God talked to him!

That’s right—God spoke to Adam! And when God speaks, His words are full of meaning, life, and love.

🔤 Did You Know…?

God didn’t just make up sounds or scribbles.

The Hebrew letters (like the ones used in the Bible) were part of His plan from the very beginning!

Each letter has meaning—like a puzzle piece in God’s big story.

That’s why the Bible isn’t just a bunch of stories… it’s God’s special language, full of treasure!

💡 What Is Notarikon?

That’s a big word! But it’s really simple:

Ancient Notarikon means that letters have meaning and the meanings combine to form words. Some people don't want you to see it, so they say Notarikon is pretending that each letter is the start of another word.

So if you don't know the meaning of a word you can figure it out from the letters. Modern Notarikon just confuses things more.

Some people think that’s silly—but it’s not!

It’s one way we can hear God’s whisper inside His Word.

📖 The Toledoth

Another big word—Toledoth (toe-leh-dote)—is the signature line of the guy who wrote the record on ancient tablets. If you have ever written a letter, did you sign your name at the end of it?

Genesis has many of them.

They tell you who were the eyewitnesses to the events recorded. Some people say that Moses wrote Genesis to cause others to doubt God's word.

The tablets were passed from father to son until Jacob gave them to Joseph, who put them in the library in Pharoah's house. Moses later was raised by his daughter and had access to them.

💬 Why Does This Matter?

Because it shows us that:

God’s words are never random

The Bible has layers of meaning

God planned everything—even the alphabet!

We can trust that His story is true

✅ He wants us to listen carefully… because He’s still speaking!

📝 Activity Page: God’s Alphabet Adventure

2. 🔤 Secret Letters!

Look at this Notarikon puzzle:

💡 The word Adam or in Hebrew (right to left) אדם

A  א → Spirit

DAM  דם → Blood

D  ד → Commandment

M ם → Finished by the Son

Adam had Spirit and blood. But he also came from the ground which is 'Adamah' אדמה. (The ם is the same letter as מ but is like a capital letter at the end of the word.)

If you wish to learn the Hebrew Alphabet, you can do this too.

3. 👨‍👩‍👧 The Notarikon Game!

You can try it.

'Ah' א is 'He spoke and created the heavens and the earth'.

'B' ב is 'revealed to man'.

Now if you didn't know what אב meant, can you figure it out?

Did you get 'After he spoke and created the earth, he revealed himself to man'?
