There are some words that should be retired from Christian conversation. They are so overloaded with meaning that no one knows what you are talking about. Here are some suggestions: F* is the first. Not because it is a swear word but because it is so overused that it is no longer a word which communicates meaning.

'Love' falls into the same category. There are just too many ways that it is used. Here are some alternatives:

I savor hot dogs.

I enjoy long walks on the beach.

I appreciate you as a friend.

I enjoy having you around.

I get excited when I am with you.

I choose to put you first in my life.

'Believe'

I give intellectual assent to the concept.

I have confidence in my intellectual assent sufficient to influence the way I live.

I know the object sufficiently to trust the way I die.

'Know'

I think it.

I feel it.

I trust it.

I have researched it.

I have experienced it.

When God said you could know, then believe, he was saying you could both research and experience before you trust. You can research the proof for God, and then experience him in a reproducible and verifiable way. Wide is the path to destruction and many on it who believe the lie which says you cannot know. Narrow is the path, and few on it who want to research and experience.
