Zech 3:2 []

Zechariah 3:2 says:
"And the LORD said to Satan, 'The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?'"

Using the symbolic interpretation of אוד (Aleph-Vav-Dalet) as a wooden poker and applying sensus plenior, where deeper meanings align with Christological themes, the passage can be understood as follows: Sensus Plenior Interpretation:

"The LORD rebuke you, Satan!"
The Aleph (א) in אוד represents God's power and divine authority. The LORD's rebuke is the assertion of divine supremacy over Satan, silencing his accusations and demonstrating that only God's command (Dalet) determines the outcome for His people.
"The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you!"
The choosing of Jerusalem reflects God's divine election and covenant promise. The Vav (ו) in אוד, symbolizing a connection, highlights the unbreakable link between God (Aleph) and His chosen people. Satan's accusations cannot sever this bond.
"Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?"
The אוד (brand) here refers to a firebrand or wooden poker, which has been plucked from the fire:
Fire often symbolizes judgment or purification in Scripture. The brand (Israel or, by extension, Joshua the high priest) is a tool of God’s purpose, forged in the fire of testing or judgment.
The Dalet (ד) in אוד as "command" signifies that the brand is not a random piece of wood but is commanded to serve a specific purpose. God has redeemed and repurposed it for His will, aligning it with His divine order.

Christological Themes:

Joshua the high priest in this vision serves as a shadow of Christ, standing on behalf of the people, bearing their sin (Zech. 3:3). The fire represents the judgment Christ would endure on behalf of humanity.
The brand plucked from the fire points to Christ's victory over death and judgment. Just as the poker survives the fire to fulfill its purpose, Christ emerges from suffering and judgment as the ultimate tool of God’s redemptive work.
Through this lens, אוד symbolizes Christ as both the instrument of God's will (the poker) and the one who withstands the fire of judgment to redeem His people.

Application to Israel and Believers:

Israel as the brand: Despite their sin and the fire of exile and judgment, God plucks Israel from destruction, reaffirming His purpose and command (Dalet) for them as His chosen people. The Vav underscores their ongoing connection to Him.
Believers as the brand: Like Israel, believers are plucked from the fire of judgment by God's grace. Through Christ, they become instruments of His will, refined by trials but purposed for His glory.

Summary:

Zechariah 3:2, when interpreted through אוד, portrays the Lord's authority (Aleph) rescuing His chosen people from judgment, transforming them into instruments of His divine will (command, Dalet). The connection (Vav) between God and His people is unbreakable, ensuring that His purposes prevail despite Satan’s accusations. Ultimately, the passage reflects Christ’s redemptive work, securing salvation for His people and transforming them into vessels for His glory.
