They died in ignorance
They died in ignorance[edit | edit source]
Rahab did know about the God of Israel. And yes, others could have responded too. But in SP, the deeper question is:
What kind of knowledge leads to salvation? Is it mere awareness? Or does it involve the revelation of the cross?
📖 What the OT Saints “Knew”:[edit | edit source]
They knew:
- That YHWH was powerful
- That He delivered Israel
- That He had covenants, laws, and prophets
But they did not yet know the mystery that:
God would save through weakness, suffering, and death—on a cross.
That the King would be slain, not enthroned by war
That the bride must die with Him, not fight for Him
🧩 What SP Means by “Ignorance”:[edit | edit source]
In SP, ignorance doesn’t mean lack of data.
It means:
They had not yet seen the cross.
They knew shadows, but not the substance.
They heard judgment, but not mercy fulfilled.
They feared, but did not yet see the Groom lay down His life.
✝️ Rahab is the Riddle:[edit | edit source]
She is the picture of the bride:
- Living among the nations
- Hearing the rumor of YHWH
- Forsaking her people
- Hiding in faith until judgment passes
- United to Israel (the people of promise) through mercy
She’s not saved because she had perfect doctrine— She’s saved because she trusted in the mercy behind the sword.
✅ Final SP Response:[edit | edit source]
Yes—Rahab knew something of YHWH.
But she, like all the OT saints, was still waiting in the shadows,
saved by faith in what she could not yet see:
The cross that would make her clean, not just spared.
