LC: Men Wrote What God Intended []

As people recorded history—the story of real individuals living their lives—they unknowingly wrote about Jesus and the cross. Every word in Scripture plays a role in telling His story. Yet, this story is hidden within riddles, wordplay, and mystery.

The authors themselves had no knowledge of Jesus. They wrote freely, recording what they saw and heard, yet God was quietly guiding their words. He didn’t override their choices but worked through their lives so that what they wrote flowed naturally from their experiences.

This reflects how God works in the world today. People make their own choices, yet God is invisibly and silently at work, accomplishing His will. The Bible, though written by many hands, is ultimately one book, authored by God, hidden within the writings of men.

Luke 24:27 – "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself."

Romans 16:25 – "...according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began."

Matthew 13:17 – "Many prophets and righteous men have desired to see what you see and did not see it, and to hear what you hear and did not hear it."

2 Peter 1:21 – "For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."

Key Takeaways

  1. The Bible is a Unified Story About Jesus
    • Every word in Scripture contributes to revealing Christ, even though the authors themselves were unaware of it.
    • The story of Jesus and the cross is hidden in riddles, wordplay, and mystery throughout the Old Testament.
  2. God Guided the Writers Without Forcing Them
    • The biblical authors wrote freely, recording real history, yet God’s invisible hand directed their words to align with His plan.
    • This means Scripture is both human and divine—written by men but orchestrated by God.
  3. God Works in the World Today the Same Way
    • Just as He guided biblical history, He continues working behind the scenes in people’s lives today.
    • God’s sovereignty does not override human choice but works through it to fulfill His will.
  4. The Bible is One Book, Authored by God
    • Though written by many human authors, the Bible has a single divine Author, revealing a continuous, hidden message about Christ.
