Day 19: Final Project Workshop — Tracing the Cross in Three Narratives

🔹 Concepts Outline

  • This session is a practical synthesis of the entire course.
  • Students will choose three biblical narratives (from Old or New Testament) and apply sensus plenior tools:
    • Symbolic letter and word analysis
    • Gate reversals and word formations
    • Symbol families and directional meaning
    • Narrative arcs that reflect the cross, death, resurrection, or the bride’s transformation
  • The goal is not perfection, but clear engagement with Christ revealed through the structure of Scripture.

📖 Workshop Instructions

This project invites you to step fully into the work of hearing the cross in every page of the Bible. Using the tools you’ve practiced — symbolic letters, narrative patterns, and word structures — you will trace the story of Christ through three biblical narratives.

Each narrative should:

  1. Highlight how Christ is symbolically present in the story (whether as Son, Priest, Bridegroom, etc.)
  2. Include at least one word analysis (gate, formation, or name)
  3. Show how the structure — not just the content — reveals the cross or bride

Example themes you may trace:

  • A story of sacrifice and substitution (e.g., Isaac)
  • A story of judgment and rest (e.g., Noah)
  • A story of the bride’s transformation (e.g., Tamar, Ruth, Leah)
  • A story with threefold movement (e.g., Peter, Jonah, the wilderness)

Use your Symbol Families, Narrative Patterns, and Letter Meaning Chart to guide your insights.

The project may take written or visual form (diagram, chart, or narrative explanation). You’ll be presenting or submitting this during Day 20.

💬 Workshop Discussion Prompts

  1. What narrative are you most excited or nervous to explore?
  2. A/B: Do you feel more confident working with symbols or with narrative structure?
  3. How have your instincts for finding the cross changed since Week 1?
  4. Where do you hear the Spirit prompting you to “go deeper” in one of your chosen stories?

🏠 Individual Meditation (Homework)

  • Choose three narratives and begin outlining your project.
  • Consider how each story might:
    • Reflect Christ before or after the cross
    • Represent the old or new bride
    • Contain death, judgment, resurrection, or transformation
  • Journal Prompt: “What have I learned to see that was hidden before?”

📘 Facilitator Notes

  • This is a coaching day — be present, walk around, and guide discovery.
  • Encourage clarity over complexity. A clear revelation of the cross is better than a tangled theory.
  • Offer suggestions if students feel stuck: Joseph, Isaac, the tabernacle, Jonah, Peter, John the Baptist.
  • Remind the class: this is not the end of study, but the beginning of a lifelong hearing.
