ELTB BigB What is a day? []

Words have many meanings. That's why we can tell jokes. We use a word to mean different things:

"What did the mayonnaise say to the refrigerator?" "Close the door, I'm dressing." The word dressing can mean either "salad dressing" or "changing clothes."

The word 'day' has many meanings:

1. 24 hour period

2. The part of a 24 hour period when it is light.

3. A particular day like a wedding day.

4. A period of time according to law or custom. A work day, or a busy day.

The Hebrew people marked the day from the beginning of one evening to the beginning of the next. They did this because of the account of creation. The evening is the transition from judgement to grace as per the cross. Night represents grace. Daybreak is like his resurrection changing grace to holiness. Then we walk holy in the light. But there is a special way that God uses the word 'day'. He makes a riddle using it.

A day yom יום is creation, or God's thoughts י explained by ו the finished work of the son of God ם.

Each day tells us something about Jesus. The whole week is a story about Jesus. There are seven stories in one story; seven days in one day.

God probably created everything in the universe in an instant. In that instant he told seven stories about Jesus.
