Historic Creeds That Summarize These Themes:
- The Nicene Creed – Affirms that God has spoken through the prophets and reveals Himself through His Son.
- The Apostles’ Creed – Acknowledges divine revelation through Christ and the Holy Spirit.
- The Athanasian Creed – Emphasizes the truth revealed about God’s nature.
- The Chalcedonian Definition – Establishes the revelation of Christ’s dual nature.
Proposed Creed Inspired by Biblical Themes and Sensus Plenior Principles
We believe
- That God reveals Himself and calls His people into conversation, inviting them to see, hear, and respond. Exodus 3:4, Isaiah 1:18
- That He speaks through His prophets, unveiling His plans so that His people may know and understand His ways. Amos 3:7, Jeremiah 33:3
- That in Christ, the fullness of God’s revelation is made known, and by His Spirit, we are led into all truth. John 16:13, Colossians 2:2-3
- That the words of Scripture are not hidden but revealed, inviting us to seek wisdom and to engage with God’s eternal purpose. Matthew 16:15-17, Proverbs 2:6
- That the mysteries of the kingdom are given to those with ears to hear, for God delights in revealing Himself to those who seek Him. Revelation 1:1, Matthew 13:11
- That He has declared, “Come, let us reason together,” making a way for sinners to be cleansed, restored, and brought into His presence. Isaiah 1:18, Hebrews 10:19-20
- That all things have been revealed in Christ, and the Spirit continues to testify of Him, leading His people in understanding and truth. John 15:26, Ephesians 1:9-10
- That the revelation of Jesus Christ is given for our instruction, our transformation, and our eternal hope. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 2:10
