  1. The Nicene Creed (325 AD, revised 381 AD)
    • Affirms that Christ "was crucified under Pontius Pilate... suffered and was buried, and on the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures." This aligns with the idea that Christ’s death fulfilled all prophecy.
  2. The Apostles' Creed (c. 2nd Century)
    • Declares Christ "suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried" and "on the third day He rose again from the dead." This supports the idea of Christ’s death as the completion of prophecy.
  3. The Chalcedonian Definition (451 AD)
    • Emphasizes Christ’s dual nature (fully God and fully man), which connects with the transition from "the prophet" to the fulfillment of prophecy.

Proposed Creed (Inspired by Biblical Themes and Sensus Plenior Principles):

The Fulfillment Creed

  1. We believe in God, whose Word is spoken and fulfilled,
    • For His voice declared the end from the beginning. (Isaiah 46:10, Genesis 1:3)
  2. We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
    • Who is the Word made flesh, the final prophet, and the fulfillment of all prophecy. (John 1:14, Deuteronomy 18:15)
  3. He did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets,
    • But to fulfill them in His life, death, and resurrection. (Matthew 5:17, Luke 24:44)
  4. Betrayed for thirty pieces of silver,
    • He bore the weight of judgment foretold. (Zechariah 11:12-13, Matthew 27:9-10)
  5. He thirsted upon the cross,
    • So that the Scriptures might be fulfilled. (Psalm 22:15, John 19:28)
  6. With His final breath, He declared, “It is finished,”
    • For all prophecy found its end in Him. (John 19:30, Hebrews 10:14)
  7. On the third day, He rose again,
    • Proving that every word of God is true. (Psalm 16:10, 1 Corinthians 15:4)
  8. He ascended in glory,
    • And His testimony is the spirit of prophecy. (Acts 1:9, Revelation 19:10)
  9. We believe that His word does not return void,
    • But accomplishes all that He has spoken. (Isaiah 55:11, Matthew 24:35)
  10. To Him belongs all wisdom and understanding,
    • For He is the first and the last, the beginning and the end. (Colossians 2:3, Revelation 22:13)

Amen.
