- The Nicene Creed (AD 325, revised 381)
- Affirms Christ's incarnation, death, resurrection, and exaltation.
- States that He "came down from heaven" (humiliation) and was "crucified... suffered and was buried" (final Nun, ן).
- Declares that He "rose again on the third day" and is "seated at the right hand of the Father" (restoration to divine glory, Son of God).
- The Chalcedonian Definition (AD 451)
- Emphasizes Christ’s dual nature: truly God and truly man.
- Affirms His humility in the incarnation and suffering but also His exaltation after the resurrection.
- The Apostles’ Creed (developed by AD 8th century)
- Declares that Jesus "descended into hell" (His humiliation) and "on the third day rose again" (His restoration).
- Emphasizes His current exaltation: "seated at the right hand of God."
