Creed ה
Historical Creeds that Summarize the Text
- Nicene Creed (325 AD):
- This creed acknowledges the fallen state of humanity and the need for Christ’s work for salvation. It emphasizes the role of Jesus Christ as the divine light of the world and the one who restores the broken relationship between humanity and God.
- Key relevant points:
- "For us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven... and was made man."
- "We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son."
- "He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end."
- Apostles' Creed (2nd century AD):
- This creed focuses on the basics of Christian faith, including the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It acknowledges human sinfulness and the need for Christ’s saving work.

- Key relevant points:
- "We, then, following the holy fathers, all with one consent, teach men to confess one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at once complete in Godhead and complete in manhood."
- "The unique role of Christ in revealing the truth and healing the blindness of human nature."
Creed of humanity (ה hei)
We believe:
- In the Blindness of Humanity: Humanity, created in the image of God, has been deceived by the desires of the flesh and blinded by sin, leading to a lack of understanding of God's truth. Just as Eve was deceived by the serpent in the Garden, so too are we easily led astray by the temptations of the flesh, which obscure our vision of the divine reality.
- In the Need for Divine Illumination: We acknowledge our spiritual blindness and recognize that only through God's intervention can we understand the truth. The Hebrew letter ה (He) symbolizes this incomplete understanding, where we, in our own efforts, cannot perceive the fullness of God's will.
- In the Light of Christ: Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, came to open our eyes and dispel the darkness that surrounds us. He is the revelation of God's truth, and those who follow Him no longer walk in darkness but live in the light of His truth. Jesus calls us to be free from deception and to embrace the light that brings true life.
- In the Role of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, is the one who opens our minds and hearts to understand the Scriptures and to see Christ for who He truly is. Through the Spirit, we receive the power to overcome the deceptive influences of the flesh and to walk in the truth that leads to eternal life.
- In the Overcoming of Deception: Just as Christ came to restore sight to the blind, we believe that through His death and resurrection, we are redeemed from the lies that separate us from God. We trust in His promise that the truth will set us free, and through His Spirit, we can discern and resist the falsehoods that try to pull us away from Him.
- In the Victory Over Sin and Deception: We confess that, through Jesus Christ, the power of sin and deception has been broken. The flesh, which leads to death, has been overcome by the Spirit, which gives life and truth. We are called to live according to the Spirit, embracing the full revelation of God’s truth in Christ.
Amen.
Commentary on the Creed
This proposed creed integrates the themes of spiritual blindness, deception, and the role of divine illumination, using the sensus plenior principle to reveal deeper meanings. The Hebrew letter ה (He) is specifically tied to the idea of incomplete understanding, while Jesus as the Light and the Holy Spirit’s role in illuminating truth reflect the broader biblical narrative. The creed emphasizes the transformation from spiritual blindness to spiritual sight, achieved through Christ and the Spirit, in line with key teachings from Scripture such as John 8:12, 2 Corinthians 4:4, and Ephesians 4:18.Creed of Humanity (ה Hei)
(A Hymn in 70's Style)
Verse 1
We were made in the image of God,
But in the darkness, we’ve walked alone.
Deceived by the flesh, blinded by sin,
Our hearts have wandered far from Him.
Chorus
Open our eyes, Lord, let us see,
Your truth and light, set us free.
We were blind, but now we find,
In Your light, we are alive.
Verse 2
Like Eve in the garden, deceived by the foe,
We’ve chased after things that don’t make us whole.
But now we acknowledge our need for Your grace,
Only in You, we’ll see Your face.
Chorus
Open our eyes, Lord, let us see,
Your truth and light, set us free.
We were blind, but now we find,
In Your light, we are alive.
Bridge
Through the Holy Spirit, You lead us to know,
The truth of Christ, in Your light we’ll grow.
No longer deceived, we rise and proclaim,
In His name, we’re healed from shame.
Verse 3
Christ, the Light of the World, came to our side,
To open our eyes, no longer to hide.
Through His death, the veil has been torn,
In His truth, we’re reborn.
Chorus
Open our eyes, Lord, let us see,
Your truth and light, set us free.
We were blind, but now we find,
In Your light, we are alive.
Bridge
Through Your Spirit, the lies we resist,
In Christ, we see, in Him we persist.
The victory’s won, the lies are undone,
We live in Your light, the victory’s won.
Verse 4
The power of sin has been broken and gone,
We walk in the Spirit, we march on.
Redeemed and set free, we’ve found our place,
In the truth of Your love, we see Your face.
Chorus
Open our eyes, Lord, let us see,
Your truth and light, set us free.
We were blind, but now we find,
In Your light, we are alive.
Outro
Amen, amen, in Your light we’ll stand,
We follow Your truth, hand in hand.
Amen, amen, Your light makes us free,
In Christ, we see all that we’re meant to be.
