Let's learn about the Last Supperβ€”the special meal Jesus had with His friends the night before He died. It's full of love, promises, and clues about God's big plan!

🍞 The Last Supper

🍽️ What Happened at the Last Supper?

That night, Jesus sat down with His 12 disciples to eat the Passover meal. But this wasn't just dinnerβ€”it was a very special moment.

Here’s what all the stories in the Bible agree on:

  • Jesus gave them bread and a cup
  • He said the bread was His body
  • He said the cup was His blood
  • He said someone would betray Him
  • He gave thanks and shared the meal with love

🍷 It was the beginning of communion, where we remember what Jesus did for us!

✏️ How Each Gospel Tells It

πŸ“š Mark: Fast and Focused

Mark tells the story quickly. He shows how Jesus did exactly what He came to doβ€”He made a new promise (covenant) with His disciples using the bread and cup.

πŸ“š Matthew: Jesus Fulfills the Old Promises

Matthew says Jesus is the true Passover Lamb. He talks about forgiveness and reminds us that Jesus is the answer to many old promises God made in the Bible.

πŸ“š Luke: A Loving Dinner

Luke shows us how much Jesus loved His disciples. He says:

β€œI really wanted to eat this meal with you.”

Luke also shows the cup twice, to help us remember how special this sharing is.

πŸ“œ Old Stories That Pointed to This

πŸ‘ Matthew might have remembered:

  • Exodus 24 – When God's people made a promise with blood
  • Jeremiah 31 – When God said He’d make a new promise written on hearts

🍷 Luke might have remembered:

  • Genesis 14 – Melchizedek gave bread and wine, like a priest!
  • Genesis 49 – A king’s clothes were dipped in grape juice, like Jesus' blood

πŸ’‘ A Special Way to See the Supper

  • The bread is like Jesus' pure teachingβ€”He didn’t copy anyone, He taught only what God said. But more than that, it is His body given for us on the cross.
  • The cup is like His life, poured out so we could be forgiven and loved forever.
  • Jesus wanted to share with His friends. He wants to share with you too!

The bread and cup help us remember the crossβ€”where Jesus gave everything for us. It was the biggest part of God's rescue plan.
