Appeal to intelligence

Atheist denial of definition []

Despite the attempts of comedian Ricky Gervais to redefine the term, an atheist is one who denies the existence of God, or of a supreme intelligent being, not just one who does not believe. If you simply 'do not believe' then you are irrelevant. No one cares what you believe. You are uninteresting in that you merely parrot others in your disbelief; there is nothing compelling about your arguments.

It is not simply 'not believing' that is relevant. It is the truth claim that there is no God. Ricky capitalizes on the common Jesuit lie that there is no proof for God. So he claims that atheists are reasonable people who have not been presented with enough proof. God says otherwise:

± Ps 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good.

± Ps 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: [there is] none that doeth good.

The nearly identical repetition tells us that the atheist has sinned in flesh and spirit.

If one says, "I don't know..." then he is not an atheist, but an agnostic.
