Affect the Kidneys

These substances can impact kidney function, potentially causing harm or requiring caution:

  • Acetaminophen – Can cause kidney damage with long-term or high-dose use.
  • Alcohol – Can dehydrate and strain kidney function.
  • Amlodipine – Can affect kidney function, especially in those with existing kidney disease.
  • Aspirin – Long-term use can contribute to kidney damage.
  • Berberine – May affect kidney function, particularly in those with existing kidney disease.
  • Chlorthalidone – A diuretic that affects kidney function.
  • Ibuprofen – Can cause kidney damage, especially with prolonged use.
  • Olmesartan/Olmesartan Medoxomil – Can impact kidney function and potassium levels.
  • Sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio) – Can affect kidney function, particularly in those with pre-existing conditions.
