Advent Dec 9 - Lk:1 41
The babe
▸ ± Lu 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe <1025> leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
'The babe' brephos βρέφος. If you look in the dictionary, one of the meanings is 'the unborn child or foetus'. Lest one be tempted to use this to distinguish between a child and a blob of flesh, consider how it is used elsewhere:
▸ ± Lu 2:12 And this [shall be] a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe <1025> wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
▸ ± Lu 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe <1025> lying in a manger.
▸ ± Lu 18:15 And they brought unto him also infants <1025>, that he would touch them: but when [his] disciples saw [it], they rebuked them.
▸ ± 2Ti 3:15 And that from a child <1025> thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
▸ ± 1Pe 2:2 As newborn babes <1025>, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
The unborn child is indistinguishable from the child that is born, except for it's place of residence. In the eyes of God, the unborn child is a human child from conception.
