Bad Birds Preface []

Jesus said that you must be like a little child to enter the teaching of the kingdom. It is a parallel saying to the teaching of the old and new wine, and the old and new cloth.

In scripture, wine represents grace. Old grace was through the ritual sacrifices. Theye did not produce actual grace, but a promise of grace. People were not saved by the blood of animals; the animals were a promise of the blood of Christ.

Clothing represents works. Actors playing a role performed old works of the law to teach us of Christ. We are to learn from their ‘theater’ but are not bound to the script as they were. The new works are those based in the law of Love; Love God and love your neighbor.

To be like a little child means that we do not rely upon our old understanding. We come fresh to the word of God and learn new things. The one who thinks he already knows, cannot learn.

This work is for parents to engage with their child. It introduces foundational principles for interpreting scripture. My hope is that it draws you into discussions with your child while giving you a new view of the Bible.
