"Now these [are] the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob." If this is the beginning of a story, where is the context? When did Jacob go into Egypt? Why did Jacob go into Egypt? Why did he move everyone in his household there? These questions are not answered in Exodus. They are answered in Genesis.
