Blog_ 2025-04-13 Peter said, “I don’t know Him”—but Jesus already knew, and loved him still.

Blog_ 2025-04-12 📖 Jesus went to a quiet garden called Gethsemane with His friends. It was nighttime, and Jesus knew something very hard was about to happen—He was going to die on the cross. But before that, He wanted to talk to His Father in heaven.

Jesus prayed,

“Father, if there’s another way, please take this cup away from me. But I will do what You want, not what I want.” That means He felt the pain and sadness coming, but He still chose to trust and obey!

He brought three of His friends—Peter, James, and John—to pray with Him. But they fell asleep… three times!

Jesus prayed very hard. He was so full of sorrow that His sweat became like drops of blood! (Luke 22:44)

Then, an angel came to help Him stay strong. Jesus made a choice: He would take the punishment for sin, even though it would hurt more than anything.

🥾 The Bruised Heel and Limping Thigh

A long time ago, God promised that someone would crush the serpent’s head, but His own heel would be bruised (Genesis 3:15). That someone is Jesus!

In the garden, Jesus felt the great weight of what was coming. But He didn’t run away or fight back.

Instead, He humbled His body (His flesh) so He could obey His Father perfectly by His Spirit.

It’s like the story of Jacob, who wrestled with God and came away with a hurt leg. From then on, Jacob limped. That limp showed that he had been changed.

Jesus also chose to make His flesh limp—He didn’t fight with human strength. Instead, He won the real battle in His heart: to love and obey God fully.

🌿 Gethsemane Means “Oil Press”

Jesus was like an olive being pressed very hard. But instead of oil, what came out of Jesus was love and obedience. He gave up His own strength, and let the Spirit lead. That’s what perfect love looks like.

✝️ The Bravest Choice

Jesus made the biggest, bravest choice—to obey God even when it hurt.

This was the beginning of saving us all.

🎨 Coloring Page Idea

  • Jesus kneeling and praying under olive trees
  • Three disciples sleeping nearby
  • A big heel with a bandage, and a glowing heart above it
  • A snake sneaking away in the background (🐍 the serpent doesn’t win!)
  • An angel beside Jesus, glowing with light
