ELTB CC Beetle []

Examine a beetle closely; it has a hardened set of wings that cover softer wings underneath. This gives the beetle a bit of protection. When a soldier carried a shield into battle, it gave him some protection. It also gave him comfort against the fear of the battle.

Adam named the beetle 'fear ended by teaching'. Paul calls our faith a shield. [1] 'Faith' means to trust. When we trust God to take care of us, we have no need to fear. This kind of trust starts with his love.

Perfect love casts out fear [2]. The beetle suggests that love accomplishes this by teaching. As we learn who God is and that he is in control we can trust him and not fear in the midst of any circumstance.
